Rangers Current Salary Cap Situation
With the Rangers signing of Brandon Pirri, the team has about $1.4 million in cap space according to General Fanager and Cap Friendly.
The Rangers now have 24 players on their roster, if Oscar Lindberg is placed on LTIR, and will need to cut down to at least 23 when the season starts. Of the 50 players on their contract list the Rangers now have 48 under contract.

Rachunek along with another NY Rangers Alumni, Alexander Karpovtsev died on September 7, 2011 in a plane crash, along with his entire Lokomotiv team, just outside Yaroslavl, Russia. The team was on its way to their 2011–2012 season opener with the entire team, coaching staff, and prospects. Lokomotiv officials said "everyone from the main roster was on the plane plus four players from the youth team." The team was traveling to Minsk to play their opening game of the season.
