1963: The NHL holds its first amateur draft at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. The six teams select 21 players.
The Rangers select Al Osborne fourth overall of the 1963 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first player taken by the Rangers in a draft.
Al Osborne never played for the Rangers or in the NHL but did play in five leagues over the course of his career (OHA,CPHL,EHL,AHL,OHASr).
