2008: Rangers sign free agent forward Markus Naslund.
The Swedish legend would spend one season in New York — his final in the NHL — scoring 24 goals and 46 points in 82 games before calling it a career.
2016: A New York Rangers Legend Passes at age of 84
NY Rangers Alumni Louis Joesph "Leapin' Louie" Fontinato at the age of 84 on July 3, 2016.
Fontinato who was signed by the Rangers as a free agent in 1950 played in 6 full season totaling 418 games for the Rangers until traded to Montreal for Doug Harvey on June 13, 1961. Fontinato was forced to retire from hockey two years later when he injured his neck while checking Vic Hadfield during a March 9, 1963, game between the Rangers and Canadiens.
