Lundqvist is the 10th goaltender in NHL history who has earned at least 20 wins in 12 or more seasons, joining Roy (17), Brodeur (16), Belfour (15), Esposito (13), Osgood (13), Fuhr (12), Joseph (12), Luongo (12), and Vachon (12) as the only goaltenders to accomplish the feat. Lundqvist's 12 consecutive 20-win seasons are tied for the most in NHL history (Brodeur and Esposito). In addition, Lundqvist is one of three goaltenders who have earned 20 or more wins in at least 12 seasons with one franchise (Brodeur - New Jersey; Esposito - Chicago). Lundqvist has started both ends of a back-to-back set 77 times in his NHL career during the regular season, and he has posted a 49-21-7 record, along with a 2.05 GAA, a .929 SV%, and 8 SO in the second game of those back-to-back sets.

WELCOME MATS

Mats Zuccarello has registered 17 assists/points over the last 14 games (since Dec. 18), and he leads the NHL in assists over the span. The Rangers look to win their third straight game tonight as they host the Los Angeles Kings at MSG. This will be the first of two meetings between the teams this season. Both teams sit in fourth place in their respective divisions. Los Angeles swept last year's season series. The Kings are coming into tonight's contest on a three game losing streak and is 5-5 in their last 10 games.

Henrik Lundqvist should get the start tonight once again while backup Antti Raanta is rehabbing a lower body injury. Lundqvist earned his 20th win of the season yesterday and became the first goaltender in NHL history to earn 20 wins in 12 consecutive seasons. Current backup Magnus Hellberg has yet to start a game and has played one period since being recalled from Hartford of the AHL.

Rick Nash has tallied 3 assists in four games against the Kings since coming to the Rangers. Kevin Hayes has 4 points in 4 games against LA including a goal in each of his last 3 games. Hayes though incurred a lower body injury against Detroit yesterday in the second period and did not return for third. Hayes status is questionable for tonight as he was seen wearing a brace on his left knee after the game.

1934: Rangers forward Murray Murdoch is honored in a pregame ceremony prior to playing in his 400th consecutive NHL game, a 5-2 victory against the Ottawa Senators at Madison Square Garden. Baseball's "Iron Horse," Lou Gehrig, makes a presentation to Murdoch, the NHL's first "Iron Man," who plays in 508 consecutive games during 11 seasons before retiring from the NHL. He goes on to coach Yale University from 1938-65.

1993: Rangers forward Mike Gartner becomes the first player in NHL history to score 30 goals in 14 consecutive seasons. Gartner scores his 30th of the 1992-93 season in New York's 8-3 victory against the Kings at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

2004: The Rangers acquire Jaromir Jagr from the Washington Capitals in exchange for Anson Carter.

Lundqvist Shuts Out Red Wings 1-0 in Overtime

In a goaltender's game it took the Rangers just under 2 minutes into overtime to seal a shutout victory for Henrik Lundqvist. 

Lundqvist finished the game with 21 saves to earn his 20th win of the season and became first goalie in NHL history with at least 20 wins in each of his first 12 seasons.

Heading into overtime tied at 0-0 as it had been since the first puck drop of the game, J.T. Miller put one past Detroit's Jared Coreau for the Rangers just 1:56 into the period on a beautiful feed from Mats Zuccarello. 

Miller earned his 16th goal of the season and 5th Game Winning Goal of the season leading the team in the category.

The assist from Zuccarello was his 29th of the season, leading the team in assists.

The Rangers play tomorrow night at home against the LA Kings in the second of back-to-back games.

Rangerstown invades Hockeytown
The Rangers travel to Detroit today to visit the Red Wings for a Sunday Matinee Game. This will be the second of three meetings between the Rangers and Red Wings, and the first of two at Joe Louis Arena. The Rangers lost, 2-1, against Detroit on Oct. 19 at MSG.

Henrik Lundqvist will get the start for the Rangers and according to Head Coach Alain Vigneault he will most likely go with the same lineup as the previous game against Toronto.

The Rangers have earned at least one point in nine of their last 11 games against the Red Wings (7-2-2-) dating back to March 21, 2012.

Injured defenseman Marc Staal (concussion) and forward Jesper Fast (upper body) are still not eligible to return but Matt Puempel (concussion) did practice again Saturday afternoon with the team.

This is the first of back-to-back games as the Rangers return home to the Garden tomorrow to face the Los Angeles Kings at MSG.
