Derick Brassard said on Thursday that the Rangers are "just trying to
find a way to win every night." (via the Rangers Game Notes)
He said that right now they are facing some adversity and "we are just going to have to battle through it." (via the Rangers Game Notes)
Brassard added that during an 82 game season every team deals with struggles and that the game against the Islanders on Wednesday was a "statement for our team." (via the Rangers Game Notes)
Keith Yandle said that he isn't too concerned about the Rangers 1-4-1 slump and that the Rangers have the right guys to get out of it. He said that everyone has bought into Alain Vigneault's system and that if they follow that structure they will give themselves a good chance to win. (Ranger Rants)
Adam Rotter: It's been a strange season for the Rangers so far with the success they have had while really not playing all that well. Right now they are going through a tough streak, like they have in the past few seasons and like every other team in the league does at some point, but they will break out of it. Statistically they have gotten off to the better start that they wanted but on the ice they look like they have the past two falls, only to really start turning things around in December.
Ultimately where the Rangers finish and how they play this season, as long as they make the playoffs, won't matter. It's what they do during the playoffs that will matter. If the Rangers win the Presidents' Trophy again and lose it won't matter. If the Rangers finish as a wild card team or third in the Metro and without home ice in the first round, but get back to the Stanley Cup Final, it won't matter. It's nice, fun and whole lot less stressful to see them win and play well every night on their way to the playoffs, but ultimately, the real season won't start for the Rangers until they get into the playoffs.
