2017-18 Season In Review: Pavel Buchnevich

Pavel Buchnevich established career-highs in several categories, including games played (74), goals (14), assists (29), and points (43). He tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (four), ranked second in assists, prima- ry assists (18), and power play assists (12), tied for second in power play points (17), ranked fourth in points, tied for fourth in even strength assists (17), and ranked fifth in power play goals (five).

The Cherepovets, Russia native ranked second on the Rangers (min. 25 games played) in points per 60 minutes of ice time (2.32) and as- sists per 60 minutes of ice time (1.57). He recorded 31 points (nine goals, 22 assists) at MSG; and he led the Rangers in assists and points at home. Buchnevich tallied an assist while skating in a sin- gle-game career-high 19:20 of ice time on Oct. 10 vs. STL. He tied a career-high with a four-game point streak from Oct. 23 vs. SJS to Oct. 31 vs. VGK (four goals, two assists).

Buchnevich posted his first career multi-goal game in the NHL by registering two goals and established a single-game career-high with a plus-three rating on Oct. 26 vs. ARI. He tied a career-high with a four-game point streak from Nov. 6 vs. CBJ to Nov. 15 at CHI (three goals, three assists), and posted a three-game goal streak from Nov. 6 vs. CBJ to Nov. 11 vs. EDM. He tallied two points (one goal, one assist), both on the power play in the third period, and registered his first career NHL game-winning goal on Nov. 6 vs. CBJ.

Buchnevich tied a single-game career-high with three points (one goal, two assists) on Nov. 28 vs. FLA, and recorded the game-winning goal on Dec. 5 at PIT. He recorded a point in five games over a six-game span from Jan. 16 vs. PHI to Jan. 25 at SJS (two goals, four assists). Buchnevich posted a three-game point streak from Jan. 16 vs. PHI to Jan. 20 at COL (two goals, two assists over the span), and tallied two points (one goal, one assist), including the game-winning goal. He also tied a single-game career-high with a plus-three rat- ing on Jan. 18 vs. BUF. The left-handed shooter recorded a power play goal, which was his 30th point of the season, and tied for the team-high with three shots on goal in 17:09 of ice time on Jan. 20 at COL; becoming the ninth player of Russian nationality to regis- ter at least 30 points in a season with the Rangers in franchise history.

The 6'2, 191-lb winger tallied the game-winning goal and posted a plus- one rating on Mar. 2 at CGY. Buchnevich skated in his 100th career NHL game on Mar. 6 vs. WPG, and posted a four-game assist/point streak from Mar. 12 vs. CAR to Mar. 20 vs. CBJ (six assists over the span); the four-game assist streak was a career-high and the four-game point streak was tied for his career-high. He established a single-game career-high with three assists and tied a single-game career-high with three points on Mar. 12 vs. CAR. He registered his 40th point of the season on Mar. 14 vs. PIT; became the sixth player of Russian nationality to record at least 40 points in a season with the Rangers in franchise history (Kovalev, Nemchinov, Zubov, Anisimov, and Zherdev).
