1972: The New York Rangers win their first Stanley Cup Final game at Madison Square Garden since 1940 by defeating the Boston Bruins 5-2 in Game 3. Defenseman Brad Park has two goals and two assists for the Rangers, who haven't played a home game in the Final since April 3, 1940. In the 1950 Final, New York played two "home" games at Toronto and the rest at Detroit because the Garden was hosting the circus.

1997: Mike Richter records his eighth career playoff shutout, passing Dave Kerr for the most by a Rangers goaltender in franchise history in a 2-0 win over New Jersey.

2017-18 Season In Review: Filip Chytil

Filip Chytil registered three points (one goal, two assists) in nine games with the Rangers, and was one of six 18-year-olds who played at least one NHL game during the season (Hischier, Tippett, Tolvanen, Formenton, and Necas). He won the Lars-Erik Sjoberg Award as the Top Rangers rookie in Training Camp; became the first Ranger to win the award in the same year he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft since Dan Blackburn in 2001, and became the fourth player to win the award in the same year they were drafted, along with Blackburn, Novak (2000), and Manny Malhotra (1998). Chytil made his NHL debut on Oct. 5 vs. COL; at 18 years and 30 days old, became the fourth-youngest player to appear in a game with the Rangers in franchise history, and the only players who were younger were Harry Lumley (17 years, 42 days on Dec. 23, 1943), Len Wharton (17 years, 81 days on Mar. 4, 1945), and Don Raleigh (17 years, 125 days on Oct. 30, 1943).

The Kromeriz, Czech Republic native became the first 18-year-old to appear in a game with the Rangers since Blackburn on Apr. 13, 2002 at Philadelphia, as well as the first 18-year-old skater (forward or defenseman) to play in a game with the Rangers since Malhotra on Apr. 18, 1999 vs. Pittsburgh (the contest was Wayne Gretzky's final NHL game). Chytil became the first Ranger to wear jersey No. 72 in a regular season game, and he led the Rangers in shots on goal from the time he was recalled on Mar. 25 until the end of the regular season (21 shots on goal in seven games over the span). Chytil allied his first career NHL assist/point and led the Rangers with six shots on goal in 14:23 of ice time on Mar. 26 vs. WSH; became the first teenager to record an assist/point with the Rangers since Malhotra during the 1998-99 season. He ecorded his first career NHL goal and tied for the team-high with four shots on goal on Mar. 30 vs. TBL; became the first 18-year-old to tally a goal with the Rangers since Malhotra in 1998-99 and became the fourth-youngest player to register his first goal for the Rangers.

In the AHL, Chytil registered 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists) in 45 games with Hartford prior to being recalled by the Rangers on Mar. 25. His 31 points were tied for the 12th-most a player younger than 19 years old tallied in one season in AHL history. He led all AHL players younger than 20 years old in goals and points per game (0.69), and ranked second among all AHL players younger than 20 years old in assists and points at the time he was recalled by the Rangers. He posted a plus-one rating while making his AHL debut on Oct. 13 vs. Toronto; became the youngest player to appear in an AHL game since Mario Tremblay in 1974, and he registered three points (one goal, two assists), including his first career AHL goal, assist, and point, tallied the game-winning goal, and posted a plus-three rating while skating in his second career AHL game on Oct. 14 at Springfield. He notched an assist and tied for the game-high with five shots on goal on Oct. 20 vs. Belleville. Chytil Registered four points (one goal, three assists), tied for the game-high with five shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating on Oct. 28 at Lehigh Valley. he tallied two goals, including the game-winning goal, tied for the team-high with four shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating on Nov. 18 at Utica. The 6'2, 202-pound Chytil egistered a point in nine games over a 12-game span from Jan. 13 at Belleville to Feb. 10 at Hershey (four goals, 10 assists during the stretch); posted five multi-point games over the 12 contests, and registered a four-game point streak from Feb. 3 vs. Providence to Feb. 10 at Hershey (two goals, four assists).

2017-18 Season In Review: Paul Carey

Paul Carey established career-highs in several categories, including games played (60), goals (seven), assists (seven), and points (14). He tied for second on the Rangers in shorthanded goals (one) and tied for third on the team in shorthanded points (one). The Rangers posted a 6-0-0 record when he tallied a goal and a 9-3-1 record when he registered a point.

The Boston, MA native recorded nine points (three goals, six assists) and a plus-three rating in 18 games against Metropolitan Division opponents. He made his Rangers debut on Oct. 5 vs. COL, and registered his first goal/point as a Ranger and posted a plus-one rating on Nov. 22 at CAR. Carey posted a career-high four-game point streak from Dec. 1 vs. CAR to Dec. 9 vs. NJD (one goal, three assists), including a career-high three-game assist streak from Dec. 5 at PIT to Dec. 9 vs. NJD.

The 6'1, 200-pound Carey notched his first assist as a Ranger and posted a plus-two rating on Dec. 5 at PIT. He posted his first career multi-goal/point game in the NHL by registering two goals, and recorded three shots on goal in 13:32 of ice time on Dec. 19 vs. ANA. Carey tallied the first goal of the game and posted a plus-one rating in the 2018 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 1 at BUF, and registered his first career NHL shorthanded goal/point, which was the Rangers’ first shorthanded goal of the season, on Jan. 16 vs. PHI. He Established single-game career-highs with five shots on goal and 16:42 of ice time on Jan. 23 at ANA. He also registered his first career NHL game-winning goal and posted a plus-one rating on Mar. 3 at EDM.

2017-18 Season In Review: Pavel Buchnevich

Pavel Buchnevich established career-highs in several categories, including games played (74), goals (14), assists (29), and points (43). He tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (four), ranked second in assists, prima- ry assists (18), and power play assists (12), tied for second in power play points (17), ranked fourth in points, tied for fourth in even strength assists (17), and ranked fifth in power play goals (five).

The Cherepovets, Russia native ranked second on the Rangers (min. 25 games played) in points per 60 minutes of ice time (2.32) and as- sists per 60 minutes of ice time (1.57). He recorded 31 points (nine goals, 22 assists) at MSG; and he led the Rangers in assists and points at home. Buchnevich tallied an assist while skating in a sin- gle-game career-high 19:20 of ice time on Oct. 10 vs. STL. He tied a career-high with a four-game point streak from Oct. 23 vs. SJS to Oct. 31 vs. VGK (four goals, two assists).

Buchnevich posted his first career multi-goal game in the NHL by registering two goals and established a single-game career-high with a plus-three rating on Oct. 26 vs. ARI. He tied a career-high with a four-game point streak from Nov. 6 vs. CBJ to Nov. 15 at CHI (three goals, three assists), and posted a three-game goal streak from Nov. 6 vs. CBJ to Nov. 11 vs. EDM. He tallied two points (one goal, one assist), both on the power play in the third period, and registered his first career NHL game-winning goal on Nov. 6 vs. CBJ.

Buchnevich tied a single-game career-high with three points (one goal, two assists) on Nov. 28 vs. FLA, and recorded the game-winning goal on Dec. 5 at PIT. He recorded a point in five games over a six-game span from Jan. 16 vs. PHI to Jan. 25 at SJS (two goals, four assists). Buchnevich posted a three-game point streak from Jan. 16 vs. PHI to Jan. 20 at COL (two goals, two assists over the span), and tallied two points (one goal, one assist), including the game-winning goal. He also tied a single-game career-high with a plus-three rat- ing on Jan. 18 vs. BUF. The left-handed shooter recorded a power play goal, which was his 30th point of the season, and tied for the team-high with three shots on goal in 17:09 of ice time on Jan. 20 at COL; becoming the ninth player of Russian nationality to regis- ter at least 30 points in a season with the Rangers in franchise history.

The 6'2, 191-lb winger tallied the game-winning goal and posted a plus- one rating on Mar. 2 at CGY. Buchnevich skated in his 100th career NHL game on Mar. 6 vs. WPG, and posted a four-game assist/point streak from Mar. 12 vs. CAR to Mar. 20 vs. CBJ (six assists over the span); the four-game assist streak was a career-high and the four-game point streak was tied for his career-high. He established a single-game career-high with three assists and tied a single-game career-high with three points on Mar. 12 vs. CAR. He registered his 40th point of the season on Mar. 14 vs. PIT; became the sixth player of Russian nationality to record at least 40 points in a season with the Rangers in franchise history (Kovalev, Nemchinov, Zubov, Anisimov, and Zherdev).

2017-18 Season In Review: Lias Andersson

Lias Andersson tallied two points (one goal, one assist) in seven games with the Rangers. He posted a plus/ minus rating of even or better in five of the seven games, including a plus-one rating in four different contests. He tallied his first career NHL goal/point, tied for the team-high with three hits, recorded two shots on goal, won both faceoffs he took, and posted a plus-one rating while making his NHL debut on Mar. 26 vs. WSH; becoming the youngest player (19 years, 164 days old) to register a goal in his NHL debut in franchise history. Andersson became the first Ranger to wear jersey No. 50 in a regular season game in franchise history. He Recorded his first career NHL assist and posted a plus-one rating while skating in his second career NHL game on Mar. 28 at WSH; becoming the first Ranger to tally his first career NHL goal, assist, and point with- in his first two career5 NHL games since Hagelin in 2011-12.

In the AHL, Andersson registered 14 points (five goals, nine assists) and a plus-one rating in 24 games with Hartford prior to being recalled by the Rangers on Mar. 25. He ranked third among AHL players younger than 20 years old (min. five games played) in points per game at the time he was re- called by the Rangers (0.58). Andersson tallied his first career AHL assist/point, which was an assist on the game-winning goal in overtime, and posted a plus-one rating while making his AHL debut on Jan. 24 at Utica. He notched an assist and posted a plus-one rating on Jan. 27 vs. Charlotte. He registered three points (one goal, two assists), including his first career AHL goal, and recorded four shots on goal on Feb. 7 vs. Bridgeport. Andersson tallied two points (one goal, one assist) and posted a plus- two rating on Feb. 14 at Charlotte. He recorded two points (one goal, one assist) and led Hartford with five shots on goal on March 2 at Springfield.

In Europe, Andersson recorded 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) and a plus-six rating in 22 SHL games with Frolunda. He ranked second among SHL players younger than 20 years old in goals and points at the time he played his final game of the season with Frolunda on Dec. 9. Andersson ranked third on Frolunda in goals and ranked fifth on the team in points at the time he played his final SHL game of the season. He tallied two goals, including his first goal/point with Frolunda, on Oct. 17 against Orebro. He posted a three-game goal/point streak from Nov. 14 against Djurgardens to Nov. 18 against Orebro (three goals, one assist). Andersson posted a multi-point game in two consecutive contests on Nov. 25 against Linkoping and on Nov. 28 against Rogle (two goals, three assists in the two games). He egistered four points (two goals, two assists) and a plus-two rating in seven games with Frolunda as part of the Champions Hockey League (CHL) Tournament.
