RANGERS VS KINGS POST GAME REVIEW 2/13
@RNYRF Staff Report
Kevin Hayes, Mats Zuccarello, Viktor Stalberg and Derek Stepan all recorded Goals in the Rangers 5-4 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings last night at Madison Square Garden.
NY Rangers Goaltender Antti Raanta starting his first game since January 17th had a rough start in goal giving up the Kings first tally of the night 36 seconds into the first period of play. Raanta stopped 29 of 34 shots on goal in the loss allowing 3 goals on 21 shots in the first two periods.
Even though the Rangers led twice during the contest it seemed they never had actual control of the game due to LA's strong physical presence pushing the Rangers around during most of the contest.
Kevin Hayes scored his 2nd goal in 2 games, this time on the very anemic NYR Power Play.
INJURY UPDATE: Rangers Captain Ryan McDonagh skated lightly on his own before the team practice yesterday and is still listed as day to day with post concussion symptoms.
Forward Rick Nash did not participate in any activities and is said to be still experiencing pain while walking and is still listed as day to day with a "bad bone bruise".
The Rangers return to action on Sunday 2/14 in a home game versus the Philadelphia Flyers. There is much speculation of a much more physical game due to Rangers 4th liner Tanner Glass' comments on the sucker punch thrown by Philly's Wayne Simmonds resulting in the loss of Rangers Captain Ryan McDonagh to concussion during the first period of last Saturday's contest between the two teams.
