PHILADELPHIA FLYERS (24-20-10) at NEW YORK RANGERS (31-18-6)
TONIGHT:7:30 PM NBCSN
Season series: The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers have split four games this season with the Flyers winning the first two and the Rangers winning the past two, including 3-2 in a shootout when they played eight days ago. Forwards J.T. Miler and Chris Kreider each have two goals for the Rangers; forward Wayne Simmonds has three goals and five points for the Flyers.
Rangers team scope: Defenseman Ryan McDonagh, who was injured against the Flyers on Feb. 6, has missed three games with a concussion; he is nearing a return but won't play Sunday. "I'm beginning to feel like myself again," McDonagh told the Rangers website Saturday. "Today was a good step, I'm getting close." Coach Alain Vigneault said, "I'm hoping he's going to respond well. He's not ready to play, but at least he's taking steps in the right direction." The Rangers said forward Rick Nash will be shut down for a week because of a bone bruise; he has missed eight games. Forward Derick Brassard and defenseman Dan Girardi each had a maintenance day Saturday but are expected to play. New York continues a three-game homestand and is 4-0-1 in its past five games, including a 5-4 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.
