Goals by Kevin Hayes, Dominic Moore and Jesper Fast propelled the Rangers to a 3-0 victory over the Penguins at the Console Energy Center in Pittsburgh. The Rangers held Pittsburgh's Sydney Crosby to 0 shots on goal during the contest.
At 31-18-5 (67 points), the Rangers moved five points ahead of the idle New York Islanders (28-18-6, 62 points) for second place in the Metropolitan Division. They also moved six points ahead of the Penguins (27-19-7, 61 points), who are fourth in the division and occupy the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Rangers Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist recorded his 3rd Shutout of the 2015-2016 season, his 58th of his career and set an NHL Franchise record for wins in his first 11 seasons with 366 surpassing NJ Devils' Martin Brodeur for first place on the list.
Injury Report NYR Captain Ryan McDonagh and Winger Rick Nash did not travel to Pittsburgh with the team. McDonagh (concussion) and Nash (bone bruise) are being listed as day to day and no timetable has been set for their return to the lineup.
The Rangers return to action on Friday February 12th when they host the Los Angeles Kings at Madison Square Garden. Game Time is 7:00 PM.
