Rangers fall short in first road game vs St Louis
Can't say it wasn't for a lack of trying that the Rangers lost tonight to the Blues 3-2. The Rangers dominated the third period holding the Blues without a shot the entire period while taking 14 of their own on net. Frustrating is the nice way of putting it due to spectacular goaltending from Blues backup Carter Hutton who had 33 saves on the night against Henrik Lundqvist's 15.
The Rangers scoring came from Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad with both exchanging assists on each goal.
The Rangers also lost defenseman Dan Girardi to a hip flexor injury in the second period. Girardi went to the Rangers locker room in the second period before returning to the bench but not playing a shift. He is said to have more than a day to day injury.
The Rangers return to action on Monday at 7:00 PM hosting the San Jose Sharks at Madison Square Garden.
