Rangers Comeback Spoiled in Overtime
Heading into the 3rd Period trailing 3-1 the Rangers fought back and tied the game at 3 before heading into overtime and losing just 27 seconds into the period.
Down 3-0 in the second period after 2 Flyers Power Play goals, big rookie D-Man Ryan Graves brought the Rangers within 2 goals with just a few minutes left in the second period. Brandon Pirri kept on his roll as he picked up his 4th goal of the preseason to open the third period scoring giving him 8 points total. the Rangers tied the game on a power play of their own when Derek Stepan fed Jimmy Vesey a beautiful pass to put past Flyers Goaltender Steve Mason. The Flyers ended the game just 27 seconds into Overtime when Vorachek skated by both Rick Nash and Captain Ryan McDonagh to end the game with the Flyers 4th.

The Rangers face the Islanders tonight in Brooklyn in the second of two games between the two teams. The Rangers despite a hard fought comeback on Saturday lost the previous game 5-4.

1991: The Rangers acquire Mark Messier from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Bernie Nicholls, Louie DeBrusk, Steven Rice, and future considerations.
"I don't think this franchise has ever had a player like him," Neil Smith, general manager of the Rangers, said of Messier.
"To trade for a Mark Messier seemed like a fantasy when we first started talking in July. It took us a lot of slaps in the face for us to realize this could be true."
