Today in NYR History August 16, 1993:
Rangers sign free agent forward Darren Langdon. Langdon not know as a "goal scorer" but rather as an "enforcer" went on to play 6 season with the orginazation splitting his time between AHL affiliate Binghamton from 1993-1996 playing 110 games and the Rangers playing in 277 regular season games posting 735 penalty minutes along with 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 total points. Langdon was the Rangers penalty minute leader during both the 1996-97 and 1997-98 Seasons. In 1996-1997 & 1997-1998 he was voted by his teammates as the "Players' Player" Award winner. Wearing numbers 15 and 19 during his tenure he would depart the team on Aug. 4, 2000 in a trade to Carolina along with Rob DiMaio in exchange for Sandy McCarthy and a conditional 2001 draft choice (Bryce Lampman).
