RANGERS ANNOUNCE VIGNEAULT RELIEVED OF DUTIES

OFFICIAL: THE RANGERS HAVE RELIEVED ALAIN VIGNEAULT OF HEAD COACHING DUTIES

Following the 5-0 loss in Philadelphia to end the 2017-2018 Season the Rangers continued to head in the direction of rebuilding and announced that they have relieved Head Coach Alain Vigneault of his duties.

Since the Rangers had started their endeavour of heading towards a rebuilding process and trading away players Rick Nash, Michael Grabner, Captain Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller for prospects and draft picks there had been much speculation that Vigneault’s tenure with the Rangers would be coming to an end. Just hours after the season finale in Philadelphia the speculation came to fruition and Vigneault was removed from his duties.

Vigneault finished his time with the Rangers with a 226-147-37 record in five seasons as head coach. Vigneault had two years left on his contract with the Rangers after a recent extension.

The Rangers now will begin their search for the coach that will be able to take them into the direction and vision GM Jeff Gorton has for New York.
