RNYRF Prospect Notebook: Andersson, Chytil, others named to Carlson Hockey Tournament rosters

Lias Andersson will continue to play with the Swedish National Team in international competition next week at the Carlson Hockey Games. Sweden's three games in the tournament are on Apr. 19 vs. Russia, Apr. 21 vs. the Czech Republic, and Apr. 22 vs. Finland.

In addition to Andersson playing for Sweden, Filip Chytil has been named to the Czech Republic's roster for the Carlson Hockey Games, while Pavel Buchnevich and Igor Shesterkin will represent Russia in the tournament.

Days/Games in which Rangers players/prospects will face each other in the Carlson (Czech) Hockey Games:

• Apr. 19 (SWE-RUS; Andersson, Buchnevich, Shesterkin)

• Apr. 21 (SWE-CZE; Andersson and Chytil)

• Apr. 22 (CZE-RUS; Chytil, Buchnevich, Shesterkin).

SHUTOUT FOR IGOR

Shesterkin posted his second shutout in as many days and was named Russia's Player of the Game yesterday as Russia defeated Norway in the Euro Hockey Challenge.

Shesterkin stopped all 26 shots he faced in the 1-0 win today, and he stopped all 42 shots he faced while posting back-to-back shutouts against Norway yesterday and today.

Brad Morrison has recorded 9 points (2G-7A) in his first 6 games of the season with Prince George in the WHL

Igor Shesterkin has earned a win in each of his last five appearances in the KHL, posting a 1.77 GAA, a .930 SV%, and 1 SO over the span. Shesterkin has also earned at least one point in each of his last eight appearances (7-0-1 record), posting a 1.72 GAA, a .935 SV% & 2 SO.

Graves was named to the Atlantic Division team for the 2016 Toyota AHL All-Star Classic, in his first pro season winning the Hardest Shot contest in Sunday’s the AHL All-Star Skills Competition recording a shot of 103.4 MPH. In his first year out of junior hockey, Graves steadily improved from game to game and drew praise throughout the season from Hartford assistant coach Jeff Beukeboom, who oversees the defense.

Rangers prospect  Daniel Bernhardt and the London Knights won the 2015-2016 Memorial Cup Championship yesterday defeating Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 3-2 in overtime of the championship game of the tournament.In 29 regular season games played The Rangers 4th round 2015 pick Bernhardt collected  goals and 8 assists for 11 points and was a plus 5. During the playoffs Bernhardt tallied 2 goals and an assist and was a plus 4 in 14 games.

1961: Defenseman Doug Harvey, a six-time Norris Trophy winner with the Montreal Canadiens, signs a contract with the New York Rangers to serve as player-coach, replacing Alf Pike. The Canadiens receive forward Lou Fontinato from the Rangers as compensation. Harvey goes on to win his seventh Norris Trophy and help the Rangers qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
