The Rangers picked up their first win of a four game road trip tonight in Calgary defeating the Flames 4-1 and handing them their fourth straight loss. Two first period goals by Michael Grabner his eighth on the season which leads the team and leads the NHL in even strength goals and Derek Stepan tallied to give the Blueshirts a 2-0 lead heading into the second period.
In the second rookies Jimmy Vesey scored his 7th of the season and Pavel Buchnevich picked up his fourth goals in as many games. The Rangers never looked back after the second period and only gave up a goal to Calgary on the power play after back to back penalties to Derek Stepan and Dan Girardi seconds after Stepan's had expired.
Henrik Lundqvist backstopped the Rangers with 35 saves on the night earning him the first star of the game. Lundqvist has now posted a 7-1-0 record, along with a 1.88 GAA, a .934 SV%, and 1 SO in his last 8 starts.
With 11 wins through 15 games this season the Rangers are tied for the most the team has earned in the first 15 games of a season in franchise history.
