1951: Allan Stanley is named the new Captain of the New York Rangers, replacing Frank Eddolls.
1967 : Ed Giacomin blanks the Detroit Red Wings 2-0 at MSG recording the 11th shutout of his NHL career.
1973: Rod Gilbert scores a goal and adds three assists as the Rangers win 5-2 over Detroit, at Madison Square Garden.
1980: Ron Greschner becomes the first defenseman in New York Rangers history to score 100 career goals.
His milestone goal comes in a 3-3 tie against the North Stars in Minnesota.
