Emerson Etem sent to Hartford on a conditioning stint
2:55PM: Alain Vigneault said today that Etem stays on the Rangers roster during his time in Hartford and when asked how many more "kicks at the can" he will get, Vigneault responded "we are trying to sort that out." (NYR)

1:26PM: The Rangers have sent Emerson Etem to the Hartford for a conditioning stint. (Leonard)
The Rangers had announced earlier that a transaction with Etem would be made today.
The Wolf Pack have three games this weekend, against Springfield, Bridgeport and Albany.
Vigneault said that since Etem wasn't going to play against the Capitals this decision made sense. (Gross)

Adam Rotter: Sending Etem to Hartford on a conditioning stint bypasses the waivers he would need to officially be sent to Hartford and also allows Etem to play. The Rangers can't draw any interest in Etem or have Etem work on his game if he isn't playing and going to Hartford for at least three games allows him to do this.

Unless he finds his game in Hartford and comes back and tears it up for the Rangers, it still seems more likely than not that Etem won't be with the Rangers when the season ends or even past the trade deadline.

Alain Vigneault said today that Chris Kreider will not play tomorrow against the Capitals since the medical team thinks he would benefit from an extra day. (NYR)
Vigneault said that he expected Kreider to be a "full go" at practice and that he "looks pretty good out there but the medical staff is making sure so I would expect him to be ready come Boston." (NYR)

Asked whether Krieder automatically goes back into the lineup, Vigneault said "we will have to see how we play. Team played pretty good in the last game and we are on a game to game basis. When he is playing up to his potential he is a top-six forward and will be the first to tell you that his game can be better. We will see how we do tomorrow and go from there." (NYR)

When asked if watching games while out could help Kreider, Vigneault said that it depends what the players are watching when they watch the games and "if he watches it the right way it should help." (NYR)
The lines the Rangers are using at practice today are (Zipay):
  • JT Miller, Derick Brassard, Mats Zuccarello
  • Rick Nash, Derek Stepan, Jayson Megna
  • Oscar Lindberg, Kevin Hayes, Jesper Fast
  • Tanner Glass, Dominic Moore, Viktor Stalberg
Ryan McDonagh is skating with Dan Girardi, Marc Staal is with Dan Boyle and Keith Yandle is with Kevin Klein. (Zipay)
