Season series: Forwards Ryan Spooner and David Krejci scored 2:03 apart late in the third period to lead the Boston Bruins to a 4-3 come-from-behind win against the New York Rangers on Nov. 27 at TD Garden. Forwards Oscar Lindberg, Rick Nash and J.T. Miller scored for the Rangers, who could not protect leads of 2-1 and 3-2. Goalie Tuukka Rask made 24 saves for the Bruins.
Bruins team scope: Boston had off Sunday after splitting a back-to-back set and holds a one-point lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning for the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference. The Bruins play the third of a five-game road trip and trail the Rangers by two points in the conference standings. Forward Brad Marchand returned to the lineup Saturday in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators after serving a three-game suspension for a hit on Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki on Dec. 29. Forward David Pastrnak, playing in his second game since recovering from a fractured foot, scored his first NHL goal since Oct. 23. "[Pastrnak] is a really great player, and he did a really good job going to the net there and tipping that home," Marchand told the Bruins website. "It's when he does the little things that he makes them even better. So hopefully he continues to play well for us." Krejci (upper body) and defenseman Adam McQuaid (upper body) remain sidelined.
Rangers team scope: Forward Chris Kreider practiced Sunday and is expected to play after missing two games with a hand laceration. Krieder skated on the third line to the left of center Kevin Hayes and right wing Jesper Fast. "My hand is fine," Kreider told BlueshirtsUnited.com. "I'm a hockey player. It's what I do for a living so it's going to actually be nice to play, so I'm excited." Lindberg was an extra defenseman with Dylan McIlrath, but coach Alain Vigneault will decide on his lineup Monday after reviewing Boston's game against Ottawa. Lindberg scored his 11th goal in the Rangers' 4-3 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals on Saturday, but first since Dec. 3. "It's a coach's decision," Lindberg told NorthJersey.com on the possibility of being scratched. "I've got to find a way to play better to come back in the lineup, I guess." Goalie Antti Raanta (stiff back) did not practice but should be available.
