Boo Nieves has been diagnosed with a concussion after a head to head collision in the third period with New Jersey's Eric Gryba. Nieves will begin NHL concussion protocol.
Nieves played 14:15 of total ice time in the Rangers preseason win over New Jersey before leaving the game in the tird period after a head to head collision with Eric Gryba and did not return. He had a 2 minute minor penalty in the game and won 55% of his faceoffs.
Rangers make first round of Training Camp cuts
The Rangers announced that the following players have been reassigned:
Sean Day, Brandon Halverson, Dawson Leedahl, Chris Nell, Vince Pedrie and Ty Running have all been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack Training Camp.
Nico Gross has been reassigned to his OHL team, the Oshua Generals.
Free Agent Jeremy Brodeur has been released from his PTO.
