1973; The Rangers acquire Norm Davis and a player to be named later (Don Borgeson) from the St Louis Blues in exchange for Bob Kelly.

1980: The Hockey Hall of Fame inducts Rangers Alumni Gump Worsley and Lynn Patrick.

1981: The Rangers trade goaltender Doug Soetart to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for 1983 3rd round pick (#49-Vesa Salo).

1982: The Hockey Hall of Fame inducts Rangers Alumni Rod Gilbert and Emile Francis.

1986: The Rangers trade Brian MacLellan to the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for the 1987 conditional pick (4th round pick if MacLellan scores less that 25 goals in 1986-87 3rd round pick if MacLellan scores 25 or more goals in 1986-87) (later modified to 3rd round pick in trade involving Mark Pavelich) (#46-Simon Gagne).

1987: The Rangers acquire Willi Plett fron the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for Pat Price.
