RANGERS EARN FIRST PRESEASON WIN IN NEW JERSEY 4-3

ANDERSSON'S TWO HELPS RANGERS TO 4-3 OVERTIME COMEBACK WIN

Falling behind 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 the young Rangers with a smattering of veteran's were able to overcome three one goal deficits to pick up their first win of the preseason last night at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

Lias Andersson opened the scoring for the Rangers to tie the game 1-1 in the first period with a beautiful read at the blueline to intercept a pass and put a top shelf shot past Devils' netminder Keith Kincaid for the shorthand goal. The Rangers were playing chase the entire night as New Jersey opened the scoring then answered back after Rangers goals to put themselves back on top by one.

Rangers goals by Pavel Buchnevich in the second and Andersson's second, a power play goal in the third kept the youngsters to head into overtime tied at 3-3.

Defeseman Neal Pionk, out on the second shift of 3 on 3 overtime with Jesper Fast and Buchnevich put the game to bed with the game winner at 1:20 in.

"Veterans" Chris Kreider tallied an assist while Kevin Hayes picked up 2 assists of his own.

Alexandar Georgiev stopped 16 of 18 shots he faced while Marek Mazanec stopped 6 of 7 to finish the split.
