RANGERS TAKE HOME OPENER 5-3 OVER ISLANDERS

Five different Rangers score in Home Opener Victory
The Rangers rebounded back in the 3rd period after squandering a 2-0 lead coming into the period on goals by Chris Kreider, Brandon Pirri and J.T. Miller to take the season opener at home 5-3.

The Rangers opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by former NY Islander Michael Grabner to take a 1-0 lead heading into the second period until Mats Zuccarello scored on a deflection to put the Blueshirts up 2-0. But, just :47 seconds into the 3rd the Islanders struck on a goal by Nick Leddy to cut the lead 2-1 and just less than 4 minutes later tied the game on a goal by Cal Clutterbuck at two.
The Rangers mounted a comeback just less than five minutes later when Rookie Pavel Buchnevich fed Chris kreider with a beautiful pass sending him in one on none with the Islanders defender trailing behind and putting one in on the backhand versus the Islanders goalie Halak.

Henrik Lundqvist earned his 375th career NHL win to pass John Vanbiesbrouck for sole possession of 14th place all-time.
