RANGERS POST GAME RECAP

Rangers fall to Red Wings 2-1

The Rangers got off to a good start just 1:09 into the opening period when Mika Zibanejad put one past Detroit's Jimmy Howard giving the Rangrers the early 1-0 lead. The Rangers had many chances to capitalize and extend the lead hitting posts and just missing the finish on many plays along with great goaltending by Jimmy Howard.

Detroit tied the game at the 6:15 mark of the second period on a power play goal by Thomas Vanek. The Rangers had 3 back to back power plays in the second to try and pull ahead once again but were thwarted by the Wings defense and goaltender taking the 1-1 tie into the third.

The third period opened with a bang for Detroit as Drew Miller scored just :59 seconds into the third period. The Rangers would pick up another power play chance but fail to capitalize and lose in regulation 2-1.
