NYR PRACTICE NOTES 1/4

Kreider Doubtful To Play Against Stars on Tuesday

Chris Kreider was unable to practice with his teammates Monday afternoon at the MSG Training Center and afterwards Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault stated that it is "doubtful" Kreider will be able to play in Tuesday's game against the Dallas Stars at Madison Square Garden.

Kreider cut his hand in an altercation with Florida's Brandon Pirri during the third period of Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Panthers, and according to Vigneault "it's a cut we can't stitch together because of where it is", making it unlikely that the 24 year-old forward will be able to play Tuesday.
If Kreider does not play against the Stars, that would leave six players who will have played in each game this season for the Rangers--Ryan McDonagh, Marc Staal, Mats Zuccarello, Derick Brassard, Keith Yandle and J.T. Miller. Kreider currently ranks sixth on the team in goals (6) and points (18).
During practice Emerson Etem took Kreider's spot on a line with Derek Stepan and Rick Nash. However after practice Vigneault said that he and Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton would meet later this afternoon to decide if a forward might be recalled from the club's minor league affiliate in Hartford.
