Three Stars of the Week
Gabriel Fontaine, C, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (QMJHL) - Fontaine registered five points (three goals, two assists) in four games last week. The Rangers' sixth round pick (171st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft recorded four points (three goals, one assist) in the first two games of the week, extending his goal/point streak to six games, and both streaks are career-highs for Fontaine in the QMJHL (nine goals, three assists over the span). Fontaine has tallied a point in seven of the last eight games (nine goals, four assists over the span). After tallying 20 goals in 63 games in the QMJHL last season, Fontaine has tallied 18 goals in 39 games in 2016-17. He has registered 38 points (18 goals, 20 assists) and a plus-18 rating in 39 QMJHL games this season.
Ryan Gropp, LW, Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) - Gropp registered five assists/points and posted a plus-five rating in three games last week. The Rangers' second round pick (41st overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft tallied two assists and posted a plus-two rating on Jan. 17 vs. Everett, and he registered three assists and a plus-three rating on Jan. 21 vs. Vancouver. Gropp has recorded a point in six of the last seven games, tallying nine points (two goals, seven assists) over the span. Gropp is tied for second on Seattle in assists (22) and ranks fourth on the team in points (33) this season.
Igor Shesterkin, G, SKA St. Petersburg (KHL) - Shesterkin participated in the 2017 KHL All-Star Game last weekend. The Rangers' fourth round pick (118th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft made his first career appearance in the KHL All-Star Game. Shesterkin ranks second in the KHL in shutouts (eight), ranks third in save percentage (.941), and ranks fourth in GAA (1.55) this season.
Emerging from the Pack
Mat Bodie tallied four points (one goal, three assists) in three games last week. The Wolf Pack captain registered three points (one goal, two assists) and posted a plus-two rating on Jan. 22 at Providence. Bodie has recorded an assist/point in five of the last six games, tallying seven points (one goal, six assists) over the span. He ranks second on the Wolf Pack in assists (16) and points (23) this season, and he leads team defensemen in goals (seven), assists, and points in 2016-17.
Marek Hrivik tallied four points (two goals, two assists) in three games last week, including three points (one goal, two assists) on Jan. 22 at Providence. He has recorded 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) in 23 AHL games this season.
Nicklas Jensen notched an assist/point in two of Hartford's three games during the week, tallying two assists over the span. He has recorded a point in 15 of his last 18 games in the AHL, registering 19 points (12 goals, seven assists) over the span. Jensen is tied for fifth in the AHL in goals this season (18), and he leads the Wolf Pack in goals and points (30) in 2016-17.
Mackenzie Skapski earned his first AHL win of the season on Jan. 22 at Providence, as he stopped 33 of 35 shots he faced.

Sean Day, D, Windsor Spitfires (OHL) - Day registered a goal, recorded three shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating on Jan. 21 vs. Niagara. The Rangers' third round pick (81st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft ranks fourth among OHL defensemen in goals this season (12), and he has established an OHL career-high in goals in 2016-17.
Tim Gettinger, LW, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) - Gettinger registered a goal on Jan. 21 at Sarnia. The Rangers' fifth round pick (141st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has posted a multi-point game in six of his last 14 contests, tallying 17 points (10 goals, seven assists) over the span. In addition, he has registered at least one goal/point in nine of his last 15 games and has recorded 29 points (17 goals, 12 assists) in his last 25 games. Gettinger has registered 22 goals in 43 games this season, and he has established his OHL career-high in goals this season. He ranks second on the Greyhounds in goals and shots on goal (147), and he is tied for fourth on the team in points (38) this season.
Brad Morrison, C, Prince George Cougars (WHL) - Morrison tallied four points (two goals, two assists) in four games last week. The Rangers' fourth round pick (113th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft registered three points (one goal, two assists) and posted a plus-four rating on Jan. 18 vs. Portland. Morrison has recorded 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in the last 20 games and 45 points (19 goals, 26 assists) in 48 games in 2016-17. Morrison ranks second on Prince George in assists and points this season.
Ty Ronning, RW, Vancouver Giants (WHL) - Ronning registered two goals, including the game-winning goal with 3:25 remaining in regulation, on Jan. 20 vs. Kelowna. The Rangers' seventh round pick (201st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has notched a point in eight of the last 11 games, recording 12 points (eight goals, four assists) over the span. Ronning is tied for the team lead in goals (19) and ranks second on the team in points (40) this season.
Sergey Zborovskiy, D, Regina Pats (WHL) - Zborovskiy tallied an assist on Jan. 20 vs. Medicine Hat. The Rangers' third round pick (79th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft leads the WHL in plus/minus rating in 2016-17 (plus-54).
