Team Notes
• GOALS GALORE - The Rangers lead the NHL in goals (158) and goals per game (3.47) this season. Prior to 2016-17, the last season in which the Rangers recorded more than 158 goals through the first 45 games was 1995-96. The Rangers have recorded 43 goals over the last 10 games, registering at least four goals in eight of the 10 contests. The Blueshirts have also tallied five or more goals in five of the last eight games.
• THREE'S COMPANY - The Chris Kreider-Derek Stepan-Mats Zuccarello line registered eight points (three goals, five assists) in tonight's game, and each player registered at least two points in the contest. The Kreider-Stepan-Zuccarello line has tallied 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists) over the last 10 games, and each of the three players has recorded at least 12 points in those 10 contests. In addition, the three players have registered 62 points - including 23 goals - in the Rangers' 21 games since Dec. 1.
• POWER SURGE - The Rangers were 1-for-2 (1:32) on the power play in the contest. The Blueshirts have recorded a power play goal in each of the last two games, in three of the last four games, and in six of the last nine games.
• SHOOTING GALLERY - New York registered a single-game season-high 40 shots on goal in the contest, including a single-period season-high 25 shots on goal in the third period. The Blueshirts have recorded at least 30 shots on goal in each of the last four games and in seven of the last 10 contests.
• FULL HOUSE - Tonight's game was the Rangers' 208th consecutive regular season sellout and the Blueshirts' 249th consecutive sellout (regular season and playoffs combined). The Rangers' sellout streak dates back to Nov. 3, 2011.
Blueshirt Breakdown
• Derek Stepan tallied three points (two goals, one assist), and led all skaters with a single-game career-high eight shots on goal in the third period. Stepan has registered a multi-point game in each of the last two games (three goals, two assists). He has tallied 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in the last 12 games and leads the Rangers in points this season (36; 12 goals, 24 assists).
• Pavel Buchnevich tied a single-game career-high with three points (one goal, two assists) in the contest. He has tallied a point in each of the last seven NHL games he has played, recording 11 points (five goals, six assists) over the span. He has notched a point in nine of 13 career NHL games, registering 13 points (five goals, eight assists).
• Mats Zuccarello tied single-game career-highs with three assists and three points and recorded four shots on goal. Zuccarello has tallied 15 assists/points over the last 12 games (since Dec. 18), and he leads the NHL in assists over the span.
• Mika Zibanejad registered two goals and recorded seven shots on goal while skating in his first game since Nov. 20. He has registered a point in 13 of 20 games he has played this season (seven goals, 10 assists).
• Chris Kreider recorded two points (one goal, one assist) and registered three shots on goal in the contest. Kreider, who also received a fighting major in tonight's contest, became the first Ranger to earn a "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" since Brandon Dubinsky on Dec. 12, 2010 vs. Washington.
• Rick Nash recorded two assists and posted a plus-two rating in the contest. He has tallied a point in nine of his last 14 games, registering 12 points (seven goals, five assists) over the span.
• Ryan McDonagh tallied an assist in 21:20 of ice time. The Rangers captain extended his assist/point streak to three games (three assists) and he has registered 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in the last 10 games.
• Adam Clendening registered an assist and was credited with two blocked shots. He has recorded an assist/point in three of the last four games he has played, registering four points (one goal, three assists) in those contests.
• Kevin Klein notched an assist and posted a plus-two rating in 21:12 of ice time. He has registered 11 assists/points in his last 33 games (since Nov. 5), and he ranks second among Rangers defensemen in assists over the span.
