The National Hockey League announced on Tuesday that New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh was chosen to play in the 2017 HOnda NHL All-Star Game.
McDonagh is the first Rangers player to be selected to play in consecutive NHL All Star Games since Henrik Lundqvist (2009-2012). In addition, McDonagh is 1st Rangers defenseman in 2 straight NHL All Star Games since Brian Leetch (01-03) and 1st captain since Mark Messier (92-97).
McDonagh has 25 points in 41GP, is 3rd among defensemen in even-strength assists (15), and tied for 4th among defensemen in primary assists (13).
McDonagh leads Metropolitan Division defensemen in assists (23), primary assists (13) and even strength assists (15).
