RANGERS VS HURRICANES GAME DAY PREVIEW 10/7

RANGERS VISIT CAROLINA FOR SECOND OF BACK TO BACK GAMES LOOKING FOR FIRST WIN

New York Rangers (0-2-0) vs Carolina Hurricanes (1-0-1)
PNC Arena, Raleigh, NC
TV: MSG, FSCR

The Rangers finish the back end of back to back weekend games today at 5 pm in Raleigh against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Coming into the contest without a win in their first two games the Rangers will face the Canes (1-0-1) who will be looking for their first home win after losing to the Islanders in overtime 2-1.

Alexandar Georgiev will get the start for the Rangers today, his first appearance of the season.

The Rangers will look to put the seasons first two losses and questionable officiating in those two behind them.

The Rangers who have come across two "hot" goaltenders will challenge the Canes' Curtis McElhinney who was picked up off of waivers from Toronto with Carolina's expected number 1, Scott Darling out with injury.

The Rangers trail in goals over the past two games 6-3, but not for the lack of effort. Last night's contest saw the Rangers pepper Sabres netminder Carter Hutton with 44 shots but only Brett Howden's first NHL tally to show for it.

As of now, Georgiev is the only set player for tonight's Rangers lineup. Last night saw the season debut of Cody McLeod in for Vladislav Namestnikov along with Filip Chytil, being sent to the locker room for concussion protocol after a shoulder to the chin and Chris Kreider taking a deflected puck off the visor, resulting in stitches for the Rangers forward. Although both Chytil (limited skating time) and Kreider returned after being attnded to in last night's 3rd period they're status for tonight is questionable.
