RANGERS VS PREDATORS POST GAME WRAP UP 10/4:

Late Third Period "Rookie" Mistake Ends Rangers Comeback Bid

With less than a minute and a half remaining, a delayed penalty to Nashville's  P.K. Subban the Rangers would have been up for a 6 on 4 power play with Henrik Lundqvist pulled for the extra skater. Instead, the Rangers would only be able to come up with a 5 on 4 withe their net empty. During the delayed penalty bid the Rangers would commit what just ends up to be a "rookie" mistake, a bench minor for too many men on the ice with 7 skaters out. With Subban in the box for interference, Vlad Namestnikov serving the bench minor, Lundqvist on the bench Nashville's Colton Sissons would put the Predators third goal of the game into the empty net. Just seconds later Pavel Buchnevich put in what would have been the tying goal for the Rangers if not for Sissons' tally.

Nashville opened the scoring in the second period when Filip Forsberg put one past Lundqvist. Jesper Fast would tie the game for New York for the game's second goal and the last of the period to send it to the third tied 1-1.

P.K. Subban gave Nashville the2-1  lead in the third with a blast past Lundqvist on a screen. The Rangers who had been playing a fast paced game would get turned back by the Predators' Pekka Rinne on every opprotunity. On many chances during the game, both Jimmy Vesey and Mats Zuccarello came close on chances only to have Rinne turn them away.

Both Lundqvist and Rinne played spectacular games, each stooping 31 shots and allowing 2 goals a piece.

Overall the "rookie" Rangers under "rookie" coach David Quinn played a solid game with very little mistakes and much hope for the coming season as they looked fast and physical at times.
