Rangers Face Sharks Looking to Salvage Road Trip

The Rangers and Sharks meet for the second and last time of the regular season tonight in San Jose. The Rangers won the previous contest at MSG 3-2 in Overtime. Brett Howden and Bredan Smith tallied regulation time goals and Brady Skjei scored the game winner just 37 seconds into the overtime period. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 43 out of 45 shots, allowing 2 goals.
The Rangers are 6-3-1 in their last ten meetings with San Jose. The Rangers recorded a win in their last game at the SAP Center, 6-5 on Jan. 25, 2018.
Coming into tonight's game the Rangers dropped to 0-2-0 on a four-game road trip after falling 4-3 to the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. New York (3-7-1), gave away a two-goal lead in the second period, tied it in the third period before allowing Alec Martinez's goal with 55 seconds to play.
Since beating the Sharks earlier this month, the Rangers are 2-4-1 and have given up four goals four times. Henrik Lundqvist is 0-3-1 with a 3.74 goals-against average after defeating the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 16.
The Sharks kick off an extended stretch at home tonight. Over the last five games, the Sharks have picked up nine of a possible 10 points to move atop the Pacific Division.
