RANGERS LOOK TO TURN THINGS AROUND IN SUNDAY MATINNE IN LOS ANGELES
Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
TODAY 3:30 PM TV: MSG, FSW
The Rangers come into this afternoon's game looking to something, anything to bring them together as a team after coach David Quinn said they played their worst game of the season on Thursday night in a 4-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. New York played what was definetly their worst period of the young season having been outshot 37-19 and producing just one shot on goal in the third period including a shot off the crossbar by Kevin Hayes.
The Rangers will start the game with news lines and defense pairings if you go by yesterday's practice. Tony DeAngelo will be reinserted into the Rangers defense as both Freddie Claesson (upper body) and Adam McQuiad (lower body) have fallen to injury in the past two games.
Henrik Lundqvist is likely to get the start today although he has struggled in recent years at the Staples Center since the 2014 Stanlet Cup Finals. He has lost both appearances at Staples Center since those Finals as well, giving up seven goals on 66 shots (.894 save percentage).
The Kings (2-7-1) have lost six in a row and haven't led at any point during that streak. Los Angeles will try to avoid their longest losing streak in nearly 11 years when they begin a seven-game homestand today after a 4-1 loss at the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.
