NYR TODAY Fri 9/29: Rangers vs Devils Wrap Up, TDINYRH

RANGERS DEFEAT DEVILS 3-1

Pirri scores twice in Rangers Win

UFA signining Brandon Pirri all but secured his spot on the 2016-2017 roster picking up his 3rd goal in 2 games as he scored twice including a power play goal for the Rangers last night at MSG. Pirri also picked up an assist on defenseman John Gilmour's first period power play goal. Gilmour also picked up an assist on Pirri's 3rd period power play goal.
The Rangers special teams once again looked sharp going 2 for 6 on the power play and killing off all 6 penalty kills. Goaltenders Antti Raanta 15 saves on 16 shots and Mackenzie Skapski 13 saves on 13 shots looked solid in net. Skapski looked great once again in his 2nd game taking over for Raanta at the midpoint of the second period just after Raanta surrendered the games only goal after the Rangers penalty kill.
The line of Kevin Hayes, Rick Nash and Jimmy Vesey looked good last night with Vesey and Hayes showing some speed and net presence throughout the game. Vesey took a slight beating last night catching a slash just 27 seconds into the opening period from Devils Nick Lappin to send the Rangers to an early power play and then in the third period aftr rushing the net Vesey was the receipient of a wicked cross check by NJ's McWilliams sending him face first into the crossbar. Neither Vesey, Hayes or Nash made the score sheet in the win.

The Rangers will once again face New Jersey on Saturday in Newark, NJ at the Prudential Center.
