RANGERS VS DEVILS POST GAME WRAP UP 9/20

CHYTIL PROPELS RANGERS OVER DEVILS IN OVERTIME

The Rangers opened the scoring on the power play late in the first period on a goal by Kevin Hayes and ended the game once again with an overtime goal by a prospect this time on the power play when Filip Chytil snipped on in from the glove side of Devils goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood on a beautiful feed from Mats Zuccarello.

In between the Rangers and Devils exchanged goals to bring the game to overtime tied 3-3. Chris Kreider scored on a wonderful feed from Zuccarello while newcomer David Desharnais redirected a Kevin Shattenkirk shot from the point for the Rangers third goal of the game.

Both Zuccarello and Shattenkirk (In his Rangers Preseason Debut) notched 2 assists each.

Henrik Ludqvist and Alexander Georgiev split time in the Rangers net. Lundvist stopped 11 of 13 shots while Georgiev stopped 15 of 16 and picked up the win over New Jersey.

Both the Rangers and Devils struggled with the new faceoff violation and slashing penalties throughout the game. The Devils taking 9 penalties on the night while the Rangers incurred 7.
