NEW YORK RANGERS POST GAME REPORT: RANGERS VS DEVILS 12/18


Rangers Defeat New Jersey in Shootout 3-2

The Rangers pulled out a come from behind victory tonight at Madison Square Garden defeating the visiting New Jersey Devils for the second time this season 3-2.

A game in which saw the Rangers miss on several opprotunities throughout the game and exceptional play by J.T. Miller, Kevin Hayes and Rick Nash who missed on several power forward moves to the New Jersey net.

The Rangers trailing coming into the third period tied the game on a goal by Chrois Kreider only to lose the lead just a few minutes later were able to come back and score the tying goal off the stick of Derek Stepan with just over a minute left in regulation to send the goal to overtime.

In an exciting end to end overtime where both teams were able to get great chances both Lundqvist and his opponent Cory Schneider were able to keep the opposing teams off the board for the five minute three on three period sending the game to the shootout.

Going into thier second shootout in two days the Rangers once again sent out Mats Zuccarello who scored in the first round and the Devils were able to tie the shootout in the 3rd round. It took an extra round for the deciding goal when Kevin hayes put one past Schneider and Lundqvist stopped NJ's Severson to seal the win.

Another stellar game in net for Henrik Lundqvist in which he tied Dominik Hasek for 12th on the NHL’s all-time list with win number 369 of his career.

The Rangers return to action on Tuesday facing the Penguins in Pittsburgh, 7:30 PM game time.
