NEW YORK RANGERS POST GAME REPORT: RANGERS @ WINNIPEG 12/8

Hayes Grounds Jets with Last Minute Goal 2-1

Coming into the game with a depleted roster, mainly now missing Rick Nash and Jimmy Vesey among the "wounded" the Rangers found a way to come out on top.

With 1:09 left in regulation and the Rangers on the power play, Kevin Hayes put one past Winnipeg Goaltender Michael Hutchinson for the Power Play Goal and the Game Winner. Both Rangers goals came on the power play tonight, the first scored by Chris Kreider, his 7th goal of the season and of course Hayes game winner.

The Rangers owned most of the first period playing a good amount of time in the Winnipeg end. On many different occasions the Rangers should have been able to put this game away early but it seemed as though when a chance came about that elusive black disc know as a puck just slid off their sticks at the most inopportune times. Most of those missed chances were when the Winnipeg Jets' net was wide open on the shooter's side.

The Second period it looked as though the ice tilted, this time in favor of the home team Jets. All but possibly five minutes of play was in Winnipeg's favor. The Rangers were lucky to head to intermission tied at 1 and not down by 1 or more.

The third period saw back and forth play by both teams even though the Rangers were on the penalty kill twice in the closing period, the defense and Antti Raanta held strong keeping the Jets off the board for 3 of 3 power plays. Although not facing many shots, 18 in all, Raanta was there again for the Rangers and improved his season record to 6-1-0.

The Rangers get right back to work tomorrow night in Chicago versus the Blackhawks, Puck Drop 8:00 PM.
