NYR TODAY Saturday 12/31: Game Day Preview, Today in Rangers History

NEW YORK RANGERS GAME DAY PREVIEW

NEW YORK RANGERS (25-12-1) COLORADO AVALANCHE (12-22-1)
Pepsi Center, Denver, Colorado 8:00 PM TV: MSG, RADIO: WEPN 98.7 FM NY

The Rangers close out 2016 tonight in Colorado against the Avalanche in the first of two metings between the teams this season.

The Rangers are coming off a solid team win on Thursday over Arizona 5-3 while Colorado is coming in after a 4-2 to Dallas.

Henrik Lundqvist who has been battling the flu is expected to get the start tonight. Lundqvist is 15-8-1 with a 2.47 GAA and a .915 SV% this season, and is  3-3-3 lifetime against Colorado, earning at least a point in each of his last four appearances against the Avs. He can pass Dominik Hasek for the most wins by a European-born goaltender in NHL history with a win tonight.

Although doubtful there is no word on if Rick Nash will return to the lineup tonight from a nagging groin injury. Nash made the 2 game trip with the Rangers but is said not to return until the injury is 100% healed.
