Remembering Alexnder Karpotsev (April 7, 1970 - September 7, 2011)

A rookie defenseman on the New York Rangers' Stanley Cup winning team in 1994, and one of three Rangers teammates that were the first Russian players to have their names engraved on the Stanley Cup. Karpovtsev had three goals and 15 assists with a plus-minus of 12 that season.
Karpovtsev died when his team's charter plane crashed on September 7, 2011 claiming most of KHL team, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Karpovtsev, 41, was serving as an assistant coach at the time of his death.
He played 12 seasons in the NHL with the Rangers, Toronto, Chicago, the New York Islanders, and Florida.

1928: Rangers head coach Lester Patrick puts himself in net following an injury to goaltender Lorne Chabot in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Patrick would lead the Rangers to a 2-1 win over the Montreal Maroons on a Frank Boucher game-winner in overtime.
1990 NY Rangers beat NY Islanders 5-2, Rangers lead 2-0 in Patrick Division Semifinal.
1991: Mike Richter records the first playoff shutout of his NHL career, a 6-0 win over Washington of Game 3 of the Patrick Division Semifinals.
1993: Mark Messier skates in the 1,000th game of his NHL career.
2016: Mats Zuccarello receives the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award.
