RNYRF 2017 PLAYOFFS GAME 1 POST GAME WRAP UP: RANGERS vs CANADIENS 4.12.17

Rangers, Lundqvist Shutout Habs 2-0  to take Series Lead 1-0

31 saves and goals by Tanner Glass and Michael Grabner is what it took for Henrik Lundqvist to get his first shutout of the 2017 Postseason.

Looking a bit tentative in the first period but still able to take a 1-0 lead on Tanner Glass' series opener goal into intermission the Rangers were able to elevate their play in the second and third periods to hold off the Montreal Canadiens. Glass' goal was the game winner and the insurance goal, an empty net goal by Michael Grabner with 1:10 helped seal the victory at the Bell Centre.

In what was thought to be a goaltender's series didn't disappoint as Lundqvist stopped all 31 shots he faced and counterpart Carey Price stopped all but one of the 30 he faced.

The Rangers looked extremely strong in the second and third periods taking their game to the home team. the only drawback of the night was an 0-4 power play that looked back to square one after tallying a goal in each of their last 15 regular season games.

Rangers & Montreal meet again for Game Two in Montreal on Friday at 7:00 PM.
