Rangers Drop Game 1 to Senators 2-1

Despite a tremendous effort in net by Henrik Lundqvist stopping 41 of 43 shots on goal the Rangers fell 2-1 in game 1 to the home team Ottawa. A sharp angle shot by Sens' Captain Erik Karlsson which took a double deflection off of first Derek Stepan's glove and then the back of Henrik Lundqvist was the game's deciding goal.

Ottawa brought their "A" game to game one of the second round clogging up the neutral zone and side boards in their own end last night to thwart most of the Rangers momentum. The only Rangers goal coming off the stick of Captain Ryan McDonagh on the power play, their 3rd of the night gave the Rangers the lead in the second period that last until 1:21 left in the period when Ottawa's Ryan Dzingel scored a Sens' power play goal of their own to tie the game.

Lundqvist made the majority of his saves in the first period stopping all 21 shots on goal while counterpart Fredrick Anderson stopped 32 of 33 shots that the Rangers threw at the Sens' netminder.

Game two is on Saturday at 3:00 PM
