Today in NYR History 10/30:


1933: The Rangers trade Sparky Vail to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for Frank Peters.


1935: The Rangers  acquire Eddie Wares from the Montreal Maroons in exchange for the signing rights to George Brown.


1964: Emile Francis is named the Rangers' General Manager, replacing Muzz Patrick.


1981: The Rangers acquire the rights to Tom Younghans from the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for cash considerations.


1988: The Rangers and Penguins combine for 292 penalty minutes in a 9-2 Rangers win at MSG. 
The 292 combined penalty minutes, and the 134 penalty minutes the Rangers had, are both team records. Tony Granato tallies four goals for his first Rangers hat trick in the victory.


2008: The Rangers trade Hugh Jessiman to the Nashville Predators for future condsiderations.
