NYR TODAY MONDAY 4/18: WEEKEND NOTES, Alumni, TDINYRH

RANGERS WEEKEND NOTES 4/18
Saturday 4/16; Rangers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 to tie the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals at 1 game each.
Sunday 4/17; Rangers sign free agent forward Malte Stromwall to entry level contract.
                     Rangers have put together a list of "Black Aces" including defenseman Raphael Diaz that will be joining the team after their Wolf Pack medicals and exit meetings either Tuesday or Wednesday.
                     Both injured Rangers' defenseman, Captain Ryan McDonagh (hand) and Dan Girardi (upper & lower body) remain listed as day to day. No timetable has been set for either players return to the lineup.

TODAY IN NYR HISTORY APRIL 18
1994:The Rangers defeat the NY Islanders 6-0 at MSG for the second straight game in the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals. Mark Messier records 2 goals, Alex Kovalev and Craig McTavish each record a goal and an assist in the win.

1995: Brian Leetch ties a franchise record with five assists in a game and sets franchise records for assists and points by a defenseman in a game with five against Pittsburgh.

1999: Wayne Gretzky skates in his final NHL game, a 2-1 overtime loss to the Penguins at Madison Square Garden.

2007: The Rangers defeat the Atlanta Thrashers, 4-2, to complete the sweep in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

2008: Jaromir Jagr scores a goal and two assists in a 5-3 win over the Devils in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The Rangers win the series, 4-1.
