SEASON SERIES: The Rangers are 1 & 3 vs Pittsburgh during the 4 regular season meetings Having won in Pittsburgh 3-0 on February 2nd but Having dropped the last 3 games to the Pens, March 3rd again in Pittsburgh 4-1 and dropping both games at Madison Square Garden 3-1 on March 13th and an overtime loss on March 27th 3-2.
The last playoff meeting between the 2 teams was last season in the first round with the Rnagers defeating the Penguins 4 games to 1 in the best of 7 series.

RANGERS TEAM NOTES: The Rangers will be without their Captain Ryan McDonagh to start the first round vs the Pens due to an undisclosed hand injury. McDonagh may see action sometime in the Pittsburgh series according to Coach Alain Vigneault. Henrik Lundqvist who had to leave practice twice on Monday due to illness was a full participant yesterday at the final practice before today's game, Lundqvist told reporters he is ready to go versus the Penguins. Dan Girardi also took drills yesterday for the second day in a row and will be in the lineup tonight. The only question mark for the Rangers will be who replaces Ryan McDonagh. Both Rookie D-Men, Dylan McIlrath and Brady Skjei are the options for Vigneault but, he has stated he has not yet come to a decision on who will take the 6th spot tonight.

1933: The Rangers win their second Stanley Cup in franchise history, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs, 1-0, in Game 4. Rangers captain Bill Cook scores 7:33 into overtime to win the game.

1940: The Rangers win their third Stanley Cup in franchise history, beating Toronto, 3-2, in Game 6. Bryan Hextall, Sr., scores the series winner in overtime.
