Zibanejad Wins it for Rangers in Overtime 4-3

Coming into today's late afternoon contest the Rangers looked to extend their season series over New Jersey three wins to none. It looked as though the plan was coming through as the Rangers took a 2-1 lead into the third period on goals by Chris Kreider and Oscar Lindberg.

But the wheels fell off and the Rangers allowed 3 unanswered goals, 1 in the second and two to start the third by New Jersey finding themselves down 3-2 just 1:14 into the third period.

It took the Rangers all of 15:35 of the third period to finally tie the game 3-3 when Adam Clendening put one past Devils' goalie Cory Schneider and eventually taking the game to four on four  Overtime.

Mika Zibanejad took a feed from Brady Skjei and beat Schneider for the Win just 1:16 into the overtime period.

With the win the Rangers were able to stay one point ahead of the Columbus Blue Jackets who defeated the Islanders 7-0 for third place in the Metropolitan Division.

The same Blue Jackets visit the Rangers tomorrow at MSG in another 5:00 PM game.
