NEW YORK RANGERS POST GAME WRAP UP: RANGERS VS DUCKS 2/7

Rangers Down Ducks 4-1

Although the Rangers were out shot 16-6 in the opening period they had more quality scoring chances than Anaheim. The Rangers came out on top of the period 1-0 on a gpoal by Oscar Lindberg after a beautiful set up by Pavel Buchnevich early in the period. 8 of the Ducks 16 shots came from defensemen.

Rangers came out firing in the second period, taking the play to the Ducks Zone early and Mats Zuccarello after missing a shot just seconds before scored the second Rangers goal off a nice set up from Chris Kreider and Brady Skjei.

The Ducks after Anaheim's John Gibson robbed both Michael Grabner and Jimmy Vesey took advantage of a Rangers giveaway and cut the lead to 2-1.

The Rangers lost some momentum after the goal and despite a double minor for high sticking by Brady Skjei managed to head back to the locker room ahead 2-1 at intermission. The Rangers were once again out shot in the period 16-7.

The Rangers retook the 2 goal lead in the 3rd Period when Michael Grabner scored his 24th of the season on a feed from J.T. Miller while during a four on four. Just prior to the goal Rangers Derek Stepan was hit from behind at the Rangers bench by the Ducks Shaw. There was no call on the infraction which seemed to light the Rangers up.

Grabner added an empty net goal late in the period to seal the Rangers win 4-1.

The Rangers are now 7-0-1 against Pacific Division Teams this season.

Henrik Lundqvist had a season high of 43 saves and picked up his 398 career win.

Alain Vigneault coached his 600th win as a Head coach in the NHL.

The Rangers return to action for the 3rd of a 4 game home stand Thursday Night taking on the Nashville Predators at 7:00 PM.
