Today in NYR History September 7, 1962: 


Muzz Patrick begins his second stint as Rangers head coach.
Murray "Muzz" Patrick, who was raised in the Legendary Patrick Family of professional hockey players and builders in the middle decades of the century and became a player, coach and general manager of the Rangers.
In his second stint as coach, Patrick returned to coach the team at the start of the 1962 season, until he hired Red Sullivan to take over. Then he went back to the front office until his retirement in 1973.


1989: The Rangers acquire Kris King from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for Chris McRae and the 1990 5th round pick (#87-Tony Burns).


1993: The Rangers acquire defenseman Alexander Karpovtsev from the Quebec Nordiques in exchange for Mike Hulburt.
