Rangers Face Islanders with Roster Questions Still Looming

Tonight the Rangers host the Islanders in their second al final meeting this preseason having lost 5-2 in their first meeting in Bridgeport on Saturday.

The Rangers come in off their second preseason overtime against the New Jersey Devils on Monday and have  won 16 of their last 19 preseason games at MSG (16-3-0 record), dating back to Sept. 21, 2009.

Going 1-for-2 (3:18) on the power play in Monday's contest, New York has recorded six power play goals through the first four games of the preseason this year and has tallied at least one power play goal in each game of the preseason.

The Rangers have now posted a 22-0-1 record in games which they held a lead entering the third period in 2017-18.

No Roster has been posted for tonight's game but Alexandar Georgiev and Dustin Tokarski are expected to split the goaltending duties with the backup role in still in question. No updates for Matt Beleskey (shoulder) or Jesper Fast (precautionary) have been given. Center Boo Nieves still remains out due to concussion protocol.

Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk is penciled in for his second start of the preseason against the Isles tonight and is also expected to ply in the Rangers final preseason game tomorrow in Philadelphia.

The Islanders come into tonight's contest with a 4-2-0 record in preseason with wins over the Rangers, Philadelphia and New Jersey. Their last game was back on Saturday, September 22nd against theses same Rangers.
