PRESEASON GAME DAY PREVIEW: RANGERS AT ISLANDERS 9/22

RANGERS FACE CROSSTOWN RIVAL ISLANDERS IN PRESEASON ACTION


New York Rangers (1-1) vs New York Islanders (3-2)
Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport CT

The Rangers head to Bridgeport to face their crosstown rivals, the New York Islanders tonight for the first of two meetings this preseason. Both the Rangers and Islanders are under new tutelage this season, the Rangers with a fresh start under Rookie Coach David Quinn from Boston University and the Islanders now with Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz.

The Rangers have split their two preseason games with an overtime win in New Jersey and a loss at home to Philadelphia.

The Islanders have faced the Flyers four times having split the series 2-2 with an overtime win last night in Philly and faced New Jersey on Thursday picking up a shutout win at home.

The Rangers will be without center Boo Nieves who is still undergoing concussion protocol after a head to head collision in the preseason opener in New Jersey. Ryan Spooner, acquired at the deadline in the Rick Nash trade suffered a strained hip in the Philadelphia contest, missing all o f the third period is questionable for tonight.

No lineups for either team has been announced as of posting time but the Rangers still have 44 players remaining on their training camp roster.
