Today in NYR History 11/11:
1930: Rangers face Quakers as the NHL comes to Philadelphia for the first time.
But the Philadelphia Quakers lose 3-0 to the New York Rangers when goaltender John Ross Roach earns his 28th NHL shutout. The Quakers go 4-36-4 and drop out of the League after one season, leaving Philadelphia without an NHL team until the arrival of the Flyers in 1967.
1973: Rod Gilbert scores the 273rd goal of his career.
Gilbert passes Andy Bathgate for first on the Rangers all-time goal-scoring list. Mr. Ranger would add another tally in a 5-2 victory over the New York Islanders at MSG.
1976: The Rangers acquire Bill Goldsworthy from the Minnesota North Stars in echange for Bill Fairbairn.
1980: The Rangers acquire Jere Gillis and Jeff Bandura from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Mario Marois and Jim Mayer.
2010: The Rangers acquire Chad Kolarik from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Bob Brooke.
