Jimmy Vesey tallies Tying Goal and Shootout Winner

What looked to be a hard earned road regulation road win in Columbus to wrap up a back to back game road trip turned int  a Rangers come from behind shootout victory.

Tied going into the second period on goals by Rangers' Mika Zibanejad and a last minute power play goal by Columus' Cam Atkinsonin the first, Chris Kreider and Pavel Buchnevich put the Rangers up 3-1 before the midway point of the second period. The lead didn't last long for New York as the Blue Jackets made their comeback against the visitors. Within a span of 5 minutes, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Nick Foligno and Alexander Wennberg turned the 2 goal deficit into a 4-3 lead. Looking dim for the Blueshirts heading into the last minute of the period Jimmy Vesey tied the game with under a minute remaining to take it to the 3rd period tied 4-4.

Both teams had their chances in the 3rd and Overtime. Rangers' backup Alexandar Georgiev faced more attempts but held strong while the Rangers only tallied 3 shots over the 25 minute span to take the game to the shootout.

It took 10 rounds of the shootout with goals from Rangers' Mika Zibanejad and Kevin Shattenkirk, Blue Jackets' Cam Atkinson & Jean Luc Dubois that Jimmy Vesey after  Oliver Bjorkstrand had missed his opprotunity against Georgiev to tally the game winner.

The Rangers come out of the two game back to back road trip games with 3 points and have a 6 game point streak going 5-0-1 over the span,
